You wake up, drag yourself to work, clock in, clock out. Rinse and repeat. Sound familiar?
We tell ourselves this is just how life works - bills need paying, after all.
But here's the thing: every day you ignore your passion is a day spent fulfilling someone else's dream.
The Survival Mode Trap
When rent is due and the fridge is empty, following your passion sounds like luxury advice from someone who's never had to choose between groceries and gas.
We've all got bills to pay and mouths to feed. The world doesn't hand out free passes while we chase our dreams.
But here's what's wild: staying in survival mode might actually be the riskier choice in today's world.
Maybe your passion is photography, but you're stuck crunching numbers in Excel. Or you dream of opening a restaurant, but you're answering customer service calls. We all have that thing that makes our eyes light up when we talk about it. Yet, it stays locked in the 'maybe someday' box.
Breaking Free from the "Just Surviving" Mindset
This isn't about throwing caution to the wind. It's about shifting from a survival mindset to an abundance mindset.
Yes, the economy is what it is, things cost what they cost, and the struggle is real. But we need to look beyond that daily grind. We need to ask ourselves: How can we be better at what we do? What small steps can we take today toward something bigger?
The truth is, most of our limitations aren't external - they're the stories we tell ourselves.
"I don't have time."
"I don't have money."
"I'm not ready."
At some point, we need to call these what they are: excuses.
Harsh? Maybe. But sometimes we need that wake-up call.
Time Isn't Infinite
The ancient Stoics had a concept called "memento mori." It means "remember that you must die."
No, this isn't meant to be morbid. It's a powerful reminder that our time here is finite. Every day we spend just "getting by" is a day we'll never get back.
Think about it: Where do you want to be when your time comes?
Do you want to look back and see years of sitting on the sidelines, letting life happen to you?
Or do you want to see the story of someone who grabbed the wheel and steered toward their dreams, even if the road got bumpy?
From Dreams to Reality
So here's your homework: Take 10 minutes tonight. Just 10. Grab a piece of paper or open your notes app and answer these questions:
What's that thing that makes you lose track of time when you're doing it?
What's one tiny step you could take tomorrow toward that passion?
What's the smallest way you could start turning that passion into a side hustle?
Because here's the truth: We all need to survive, but you were built for more than just survival.
Your passion isn't just some luxury add-on to life - it's the whole point. Every person who's ever turned their dreams into reality started exactly where you are right now.
The only question is: What are you going to do about it?
Quote of the Day:
"You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think." - Marcus Aurelius
