Ever notice how we love to keep our options open? It's like ordering takeout – we check three different apps "just in case." But when it comes to your big goals in life, that safety net might actually be the thing holding you back.
The Problem with Playing it Safe
Maybe having a Plan B is actually sabotaging your Plan A. Think about it.
When you're dating someone but keeping your dating apps "just in case," are you really giving that relationship your all?
Same goes for your dreams and goals.
When you've got one foot out the door before you even start, you're basically telling yourself, "Hey, I don't really think this is gonna work." How is this not self-sabotage?
The Reality of "Perfect Plans"
No plan survives first contact with reality. It's like trying to predict exactly how a road trip will go. Sure, you can map out your route, but you'll probably still hit some detours, find some cool unexpected spots, or have to take a different path entirely.
The magic happens when you start moving. That's when you figure out:
What actually works (and what definitely doesn't)
Where you need to pivot.
Which opportunities you never saw coming.
The Power of Going All-In
Think of every major success story you know. Did Steve Jobs have a backup plan in case Apple didn't work out? Was there a Plan B for Tesla in Elon Musk's back pocket?
Hell no. These folks burned their boats and went all-in.
Now, I'm not saying you should be reckless. This isn't about life-or-death situations where backup plans make sense.
This is about your big dreams. Starting a business. Writing a book. Or whatever else fires you up.
Making Adjustments vs. Backup Plans
Adjusting your plan isn't the same as having a backup plan. It's like GPS navigation – when you hit traffic, you reroute. You don't abandon your destination entirely.
When things get tough (and they will), you:
Adapt your approach.
Learn from what's not working.
Keep pushing forward
Stay focused on your end goal.
The Bottom Line
Stop hedging your bets. Pick your path and give it everything you've got.
That Plan B sitting in your back pocket? It's not just a safety net – it's extra weight holding you down.
The most powerful force in achieving your goals isn't your talent, your resources, or even your network. It's your complete, undivided commitment to making it happen, no matter what.
So, what's it gonna be? Are you ready to go all-in on Plan A?
